For the last expo of 2021 we had Divya Gunnam, a young urbanist and researcher, who shared with us her passion for community-based planning. She presented her graduation thesis and the research that comes from it: the "Gender Lab". The Gender Lab is a placemaker which aims to make cities safer and accessible for women. During the expo, we saw the methodology that Divya used during her thesis and the strategy she used to approach a structural problem of violence against women in India.
We discussed the different mechanisms, both institutional and gender-inclusive strategies, that can generate a societal change in cities, and create better living environments for women. The research was also in collaboration with the World Bank. As always, a very inspiring evening exchanging ideas and knowledge on how to built together better societies for all!
